This course starts with a brief overview of both electric and diesel fire pump controllers and their selection, followed by a more detailed review of the various drivers/starting methods – (Across the Line, Part Winding, Primary Resistor, Autotransformer, Wye-Delta Open/Closed, Soft Start and Variable Frequency Drive – (VFD). We’ll then discuss which starting method(s) are most widely used today and why. Their advantages, disadvantages, and typical cost.
Upon completion of this webinar, participants will be able to:

Marty is an Engineer by Profession having graduated from the University of Akron. He was the U.S. National Sales Manager for Tornatech Fire Pump Controllers for over 12 years and was promoted to Director of Sales two years ago. He’s based out of Cincinnati, Ohio. He works closely with his sales team and continues to do selective field commissioning and extensive training, having done educational presentations for various organizations such as AFSA, SFPE, ASPE, etc. as well as for many state AHJ/Fire Marshal Schools, Fire Consulting Engineers, Fire Sprinkler Contractors, Pump OEM Representatives & End Users.
Previously he spent 20 years in various Domestic and international Sales and Management positions for Siemens Energy and Automation covering Low, Medium, and high Voltage Power, Control, and Automation products. He was responsible for a Large Sales Team, Distribution Network, Regional Accounts, Military Facilities, Consulting Engineers, Hospitals along Key National Accounts. In addition, he also Directed all Cross-Functional Activities of Siemens Global resources in new account development, training, and sales to increase share for one of their Divisions in the Electrical Power Market within China.
