SUMMARY:Standard Spray Sprinkler Obstructions
DESCRIPTION:Standard spray sprinklers are a staple in fire sprinkler systems. These tried-and-true sprinklers have lots of details for locating sprinklers near obstructions\, and there are certainly plenty of obstructions in the field. Learn what items are considered obstructions to standard spray sprinklers and how close is too close when installing them. Not every obstruction can be spelled out in NFPA 13\, but new clarifications do get added with each edition. \nLearning Objectives: \nUpon completion of this webinar\, attendees will be able to: \n1. Explain the impact of obstructions on standard spray sprinklers.\n2. Differentiate obstructions to determine which rules apply to common items.\n3. Discuss the variations in the rules for pendent\, upright\, and sidewall sprinklers.\n4. Use the obstruction guidelines to locate standard spray sprinklers efficiently. \nDetails:  \nRegistration Fees (per person): \nAFSA Member with no CEU: FREE\nAFSA Member with CEU: $25\nNon-Member: $250\nAHJ without CEU: FREE\nAHJ with CEU: $15 \nContinuing Education Credit: \nThis webinar offers: 0.1 CEUs\, 1.0 CPDs \nTo receive continuing education credits for the webinar\, you must do all of the following: \n\nRegister individually using your name that matches your fitter certification\, if applicable.\nConnect with your unique webinar link\nDo not share or use someone else’s unique webinar link.\nAttend the webinar in its entirety\nRespond to each checkpoint question\nSubmit a completed evaluation form within 14 days of the webinar\n\nPlease check your time zone to ensure you connect at the right time: \n9:00 AM – 10:00 AM Pacific Time\n10:00 AM – 11:00 AM Mountain Time\n11:00 AM – 12:00 PM Central Time\n12:00 PM – 1:00 PM Eastern Time  \nMore Info & Register

SUMMARY:Updates to NFPA 14\, 2023 Edition
DESCRIPTION:Description: NFPA 14 Standard for the Installation of Standpipes and Hose Systems\, 2023 edition\, is in the final stages of the revision process\, and a substantial effort was made to focus on the needs of the AHJ when it comes to specific design requirements in the standard. This presentation will discuss the new structure of NFPA 14\, additional installation requirements for scissor stairs and other special arrangements\, the evaluation of pumping capabilities of the fire department\, and the effect on the design and pressure limitation on a standpipe system. \n Register\n0.1 CEU | 1.0 CPD | 1.0 Contact Hours\nSpeaker: Kevin Hall\, M.Eng.\, P.E.\, ET\, CWBSP\, PMSFPE\nStandard Referenced: NFPA 14\, 2023 edition \nLearning Objectives: \nUpon completion of this webinar\, attendees will be able to: \n\nLocate and identify the requirements in the reorganized edition of NFPA 14.\nDetermine when redundant installation features are required based on fire department pumping capabilities\nIdentify and apply the requirements for vertical standpipe system zones\nIdentify the required locations for hose connections

SUMMARY:Hands-On Course for Inspection\, Testing & Maintenance of Water-based Fire Protection Systems
DESCRIPTION:This class will provide a 3-day hands-on review of the inspection\, testing\, and maintenance (ITM) requirements for sprinkler systems\, standpipe systems\, fire pumps\, and common components for water-based fire protection systems through classroom-based review and hands-on demonstrations and practice. Half of the course includes a classroom-based review and the other half consists of hands-on demonstrations and practice. Specific hands-on tests will vary and may include main drain test; valve status test; dry system trip test; preaction/deluge trip test; resetting dry and preaction/deluge valves; weekly\, monthly\, and annual fire pump tests; and air supplies (air compressors and nitrogen generators). \nLearning Objectives: \nUpon completion\, participants will be able to: \n\n Identify the required periodic inspection\, testing\, and maintenance requirements for water-based fire protection systems and system components.\nPerform the required periodic inspection\, testing\, and maintenance requirements for water-based fire protection systems and system components.\nInterpret the results from periodic inspection\, testing\, and maintenance activities.\n\nAFSA Provides: \n\nHandout slides\nThree copies of the hydraulic graph\nOne NFPA Inspection form per student\nOne notebook per student\nAFSA Pens\nAFSA scales\nPhysical copy of NFPA 25\, 2020 edition\n\nCredits & Approvals: \n\nCPDs: 22.5\nCEUs: 2.25\nContact Hours: 22.5\nFL Approval: FP17079-22.5 (expires July 2022)\n\n\n\n\nContractor I\, II\, III & WB Inspector\nThis course is approved for credit by the Florida Fire Safety Board.\n\n\n\n  \nMore Info & Register

SUMMARY:Protecting Flammable Liquids with Synthetic Fluorine Free Foam (SFFF)
DESCRIPTION:This webinar will discuss the transition from aqueous film-forming foam (AFFF) to synthetic fluorine-free foam (SFFF) based on new environmental regulations adopted by several states. SFFF can protect specific ignitible liquid hazards by using the prescriptive requirements in NFPA 30 Flammable and Combustible Liquids Code\, FM Data Sheet 7-29 Ignitable Liquid in Portable Containers\, FM Approval Guide FM5130\, and the manufacturer’s installation instructions and datasheet. These systems have specific installation requirements for both water supply piping and foam concentrate discharge piping\, as well as hydraulic considerations for the proportioning and discharge devices\, selected that will affect foam concentrate storage and water supply capacity. \n Register\nLearning Objectives: \nUpon completion of this webinar\, attendees will be able to: \n\nIdentify the four components that make up an approved SFFF system\nDefine the abbreviation “SFFF”\nApply the installation requirements and specific friction loss values associated with changing a proportioning device\nIdentify the approved discharge devices for use with SFFF\n\nDetermine the appropriate capacity for a foam bladder tank based on the system design
