DESCRIPTION:In this three-day\, in-person workshop\, students will understand and apply principles of hydraulics\, including the different types of pressure\, calculating changes in pressure (elevation and friction loss)\, and node analysis. Students will apply factors for equivalent length adjustments based on pipe type\, size\, and system arrangement. Using the principles of hydraulics\, students will select a remote area\, perform hand calculations for tree systems\, identify and understand the different sections of the detailed hydraulic worksheet\, and place the appropriate system information. Examples of calculations for sprinkler systems\, water supply analysis\, and simple loops are provided with a hands-on approach. Students will apply their knowledge to perform hand calculations. DESCRIPTION:The Beginning Design School presents a comprehensive\, practical approach to preparing fire sprinkler system drawings. \nOver a three-week period\, students will attend six live webinars studying and reviewing the installation and design approach requirements of NFPA 13 (2019) while completing self-paced exercises and module assessments. Q&A sessions and open discussions will also be included as part of the online instruction. \nThe second part of the class will be a week of in-person training\, preparing fire sprinkler system layouts\, shop drawings\, and hydraulic calculations by hand. The course concludes with a comprehensive exam of the class content\, including the installation requirements and hydraulics. \nThere is no CAD or third-party software taught in this class. \nLearning Objectives:\nThe school will prepare the student to: \n\nAccelerate the comprehension of plans and various types of building construction for proper sprinkler spacing applications.\nDetermine the proper and economic planning of sprinkler system layout and installation methods.\nKnow the importance of sprinkler specifications\, types of pipe\, hangers\, fittings\, flow tests\, etc.\nLearn to develop shop drawings from start to finish.\nLearn to coordinate with other trades – plumbing\, mechanical\, structural\, and electrical.\nPerform manual hydraulic calculations by hand\, preparing the student for a more natural decision-making process when using a computer to perform hydraulics.\nPrepare shop drawings in class for projects with different applications.\n\nPrerequisites:\nThis class is designed for trainees and entry-level technicians with at least six months of experience and those with experience in the sprinkler trade looking to transition to system layout. \nThe final week of each session will be hosted on location. DESCRIPTION:Next Level Design\nExperienced layout technicians will find this blended learning course useful to understand the tools they utilize in-depth and gain a deeper knowledge of layout standpipes\, fire pumps\, seismic protection\, and the design requirements for general storage. In addition to mastering requirements in NFPA 13\, NFPA 14\, and NFPA 20\, students will utilize computer modeling software to apply design requirements learned throughout the course\, becoming familiar with the BIM process. This course begins with an orientation and two 3-hour webinars followed by five days of in-person instruction. \nThe course will begin with an orientation and two 3-hour webinars providing an overview of the toolsets available in the Hydratec for Revit® software to allow students to utilize Building Information Modeling (BIM) for exercises. \nThis is followed by five days of in-person instruction. DESCRIPTION:In this three-day\, in-person workshop\, students will understand and apply principles of hydraulics\, including the different types of pressure\, calculating changes in pressure (elevation and friction loss)\, and node analysis. Students will apply factors for equivalent length adjustments based on pipe type\, size\, and system arrangement. Using the principles of hydraulics\, students will select a remote area\, perform hand calculations for tree systems\, identify and understand the different sections of the detailed hydraulic worksheet\, and place the appropriate system information. Examples of calculations for sprinkler systems\, water supply analysis\, and simple loops are provided with a hands-on approach. Students will apply their knowledge to perform hand calculations.
