This webinar will review the components and requirements of a fire pump controller which allows it to be UL Listed & FM Approved for use in a life safety fire protection system. We’ll also define what arc flash potential is, the need for PPE, and how to completely remove this risk by use of a main disconnecting means ahead of the fire pump controller. This webinar will also define what options are available when selecting a main disconnecting means – (Fusible Switch or OPD Circuit Breaker design), as well as how to size them. This presentation will discuss what other factors are gained with the use of a main disconnecting means ahead of the fire pump controller.
Upon completion of this webinar, participants should be able to:
- Identify the components of an electric and diesel fire pump controller.
- Explain the operation of both an electric and diesel fire pump controller.
- Define what arc flash potential is and the need for PPE – (Personal Protective Equipment).
- Identify the options available for a main disconnecting means for use with an FPC.
- Explain how to eliminate arc flash potential at the fire pump controller.
- Define what other factors are gained when using a fusible or C/B design main disconnect means ahead of the fire pump controller.
